Shelly Gloyna is a licensed professional counselor with over ten years of experience helping clients with their goals of achieving mental, spiritual, and emotional health. Shelly provides biblical-based Christian Counseling, is certified in Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and is well-versed in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Very early on, Shelly knew that she had the desire to listen and help others with challenging life situations. After graduating from SMU with a Masters in Counseling, she worked in hospitals, schools, and agencies, gaining extensive experience working with diverse groups of people. Most recently, Shelly worked as a Student Assistance Counselor serving high school students in Lewisville ISD as well as working with adults in private practice. As a licensed professional counselor, Shelly has collaborated successfully with many clients to work through frustrating mental illnesses that at times, can feel debilitating. With time and the right approach, it can get better!
My Approach & Values
As a Christian counselor, Shelly has a biblical worldview that incorporates empathy, love, and compassion into her counseling. Shelly utilizes a holistic approach to therapy. Recently, she returned to school to pursue a doctorate in biblical counseling from Regent University. Shelly uses faith-based counseling as a foundation of therapy but is also certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and well-versed in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Shelly believes in a holistic and interactive approach to therapy that involves teaching clients new skills, exploring your concerns together, and helping clients understand their mental health on a deeper level. Through this approach, clients learn how to seek and achieve balance in all areas of life, including but not limited to spiritual, mental, physical, and social well-being.
